Dangerous Minds

Dangerous minds is a movie stars Michelle Pfeiffer as an ex-Marine turned English teacher. She is unknowingly thrown to a group of students. A class of trouble infested, educationally challenged, drug employed slum kids who get a kick out of driving teachers to nervous breakdowns. Michelle keeps them focused by teaching them that education is important. She gave them rewards such as a field trip to the amusement park for good behavior. She also gave her students candy for everytime they answered a question right in a disscusion in a class room. Another reward she offered was a free dinner to the students that got a project right to a certain topic she gave all her students to research on. Not all of her students got the free dinner reward.

Connection to the course

Dangerous Minds is a movie that was published in 1995. It relates to psychology because we learned in Chapter 5 about primary reinforcers which are events or stimuli such as food or water. The teacher gave her students candy and a dinner as a primary reinforcer. It also relates to the schedules of reinforcement because the students started learning new material and expected to get an reward everytime.
